While it can be fun to make a fresh start in a new location, the actual process of moving all your household items can sometimes be a dreaded chore. Some ways to make your move easier include:
- Getting rid of as many items as you can prior to the move. This can include clothes you no longer wear, kitchen gadgets you don’t use, and old electronics that are just gathering dust. Hold a garage sale or donate these items so that you don’t have to worry about packing them.
- Start packing early, and be entirely packed when the movers arrive. If you start packing early, you only need to tackle a little bit at a time, so it will feel less overwhelming. This will also ensure you have the time to clearly label which room each box goes in, and what the contents of each box are. You also do not want to still be packing boxes when the movers arrive, as this will slow down the moving process.
- Keep disassembled items together. This can include taping hanging hardware to the back of artwork, or wrapping the TV cord around the television. This will prevent these items from getting lost, and make it easier to get your new home set up.
